The duo-exhibition From One to Another exhibits the most recent developments in the artist practices of Charlie Jansen (2000, Rotterdam) and Alessio Pinton (...., Rotterdam). Their work delves into the sonic and material characteristics of a multitude of lifeless materials, ranging from stainless steel to limestone. Their artistic research aims to make tactile the processes, dialogues, exchanges and vibrations that remain invisible to the human experience.

Pinton departs from the human nerve system, and focuses his practice on strengthening our relationship to our environment. Using music, sensors and real-time data, he translates non-human signals to relatable human experience.

In her interactive installations Jansen researches the material and sonic qualities of metal. Her work experiments with the resonance of large sheet of metal that are activated with the use of electronics and manipulated through audience interaction. Through interacting with her installation, self-generated and ever-changing sonic landscapes are born from catching and amplifying resonating vibrations.

From One to Another challenges its viewers to take on an active approach to watching and listening, in the midst of a surrounding that usually surpresses the signals and data that make up the works in this exhibition. These signals function as ominous, ever-transforming beats that emerge from their usual state of invisibility to take center stage. With their exhibition, Jansen and Pinton show how materials, space and people are in continuous motion and relation to one another.
