MARIJN NIGGEBRUGGE

Marijn Niggebrugge is an artist from Rotterdam.
Just as Jesus can be a rock in the life of a Christian, art is the rock Marijn builds his life upon. In his walk-in closet he collects objects from different periods of his life.

The closet is a world of its own, one of recognition and understanding, except this world has no roots outside of Marijn. Without the memories that hold these objects in place, they can easily become nothing more than clutter. The objects are part of the rock he builds his life upon, but he also realizes they keep a hold on him, stopping him in his tracks. He asks himself: ‘Is this me, the objects or both?’
